Richard Fitoussi: Photojournalist/Cinematographer

Richard Fitoussi started his career assisting some of Canada’s finest fashion photographers while working on sets with clients that include Tom Ford, Elite Modeling Agency, FLARE, ELLE, Chatelaine, and Toronto Life. His experience on film sets includes collaborating with notable personalities like Pamala Anderson, Matt Damon, Kirsten Dunst, John Stamos, Bryan Adams, US Secretary of State Madeleine Albright, PM Jean Chretien, Hillary Weston, and Nobel Peace Prize-winning Vietnam Veteran Bobby Muller.

In 2001 Richard shifted his focus to photojournalism and covered humanitarian issues around the globe as a stringer for several news agencies. Highlights of his career include two tours as an embedded war photographer in Afghanistan, documenting the Khmer Rouge War Crimes Tribunal in Cambodia, and photographing the aftermath of Thailand’s 2004 "Boxing Day" Tsunami. In 2006 he survived a Taliban IED that killed four of the soldiers he was filming with.

In 2007 Richard was awarded the Cinema Verite Prize for Humanitarian Filmmaking by Queen Noor of Jordan at a Gala ceremony in Geneva for his work documenting the impact of landmines on civilian populations. His work has been shown at the Bastille in Paris, at the FRONTLINE Club in London, the Siskel Film Center in Chicago, and at the United Nations in New York. He has produced four feature-length documentary films.
